Our distinctives
We strive to be a church that is Jesus-centered, practice-based, Third Way, relationally-oriented, and outward-focused. Find out more about what that means below!
Distinctives
Jesus-centered
The focal point of our community is upon the life, love, ministry, and mission of Jesus. In Jesus, we find not only the clearest demonstration of who God is, but how we were called to live.
Practice-based
Our shared faith is not meant to only construct a belief system but is meant to inform how we live. Therefore, our community will help each of us take the next steps in following Jesus through sacred experiences – utilizing common habits of contemplation and action. See our shared practices here.
Third Way
In the middle of the fragmented “us vs. them” culture, we seek to create space to wrestle with the issues of the day while embracing those who disagree. We desire to provide a refuge of inclusion and unity that is rooted in our choice to value empathy and compassion over certainty and absolute agreement. We seek unity in following Jesus within the essentials of our faith. Learn More
Relationally-oriented
We believe God does some of God’s best work in the context of relationships. Therefore, we will organize and orient our church to facilitate the power of significant friendship. Check out our small groups and gatherings.
Outward-focused
Jesus models for us what a life of generosity, compassion and service could look in this world. In response to Jesus’ sacrificial love for us, as a community, we will look for opportunities to give ourselves away as we bless Austin and live for the sake of others. See our compassion opportunities here.
Biblically-rooted
We believe that one of the greatest gifts God has given us is the Bible. Through this living and ancient Word, we know why we are here, who we are as God’s beloved, how to live purposeful lives, and most importantly, know Jesus more.
